Last summer, I set out solo to hike a trail I’d been eyeing for months. I had the map, the snacks, the playlist—all the things that usually make me feel prepared.
But about halfway up, the trail got sketchy. Weather rolled in fast, I lost my footing more than once, and honestly, I started doubting whether I should be out there at all.
I didn’t finish the hike.
Instead, I turned around, found a quiet spot on the way back, made coffee on my camp stove, and watched the clouds roll by. And weirdly, that moment felt like more of a “win” than summiting ever would’ve.
Because here’s the truth: adventure isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about showing up, tuning in, and learning when to pivot.
Sometimes growth looks like pushing through.
Sometimes it looks like turning around.
Either way—you’re still out there, and that counts.
